Paul was mainly a plein air painter and loved the challenge of painting directly from the subject matter whenever he could – whatever the weather. Paul travelled extensively painting the canals of Holland, soft light of Venice, the streets of India, market scenes across Europe, the banks of the Nile in Egypt, the hot desert sands of Jordan or the shores of the River Thames and the marine life he loved. Paul also found magic in the familiar, painting the fields and country lanes close to his family home in Hampshire.
