Marine

From an early age Paul was fascinated with boats. A childhood spent in Trinidad with journeys across the Atlantic to England cemented his love of the sea. He was also a keen model boat maker. Perhaps these early influences rubbed off on him as he became a prodigious painter of life on the water. A member of the Wapping Group of Artists (WGA) since 1995 and Royal Society of Marine Artists since 2004, Paul’s work encapsulates capturing boats and workshops on rivers as well as life at sea from as far-flung places as Spain, Dubai and Trinidad. A particular favourite of his was painting marine workshops, capturing the rhythms of daily boat yard life.

Work in his marine collection includes sailing barges in Holland, the islands of Scotland plus many pieces from the rivers, boat yards and coastline of Kent, Essex and Suffolk, either painted with WGA friends or when running painting courses at Dedham Hall.
